Dave Kaplan is a Jack-of-all-trades as far as the variety arts go. He has even managed to become a master of a few of them. Skillful juggling ability, incredible sideshow stunts, and good old acrobatics compliment Dave's quick wit and comedic timing.
Captivated by the circus as a child, Dave tried to learn as much as he could. After learning to juggle and unicycle he often attended meetings of the
Carmine St. Irregulars Juggling Club and the New York Unicycle Club where he was able to refine his skills. As a student of the New York Goofs, Dave studied under Barry Lubin and Dick Monday from
The Big Apple Circus, Hovey Burgess, world champion juggler and theatre instructor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and Larry Pisoni, founder of the Pickle Family Circus and the San Francisco School of Circus Arts.
Dave's fascination with the circus led him to sideshow legend,
Todd Robbins who taught him many classic sideshow stunts such as sword swallowing and fire eating. Working with the extremely talented performers of the Coney Island Sideshow encouraged David to expand his repertoire even more.
Taking his grandfather's advice, "Let your hobby be your life's work," David has been both successful and happy. Traveling around the world making people laugh is quite possibly the most rewarding career ever.
